Apple released an amazing product this week, the Magic Trackpad. One thing that we’ve recognized at Action Cleaners is that the majority of our clients are very tech savvy and have the all the latest technologies. And one of their biggest concerns is how to clean and maintain their electronics without harming them. For the new Apple Magic Trackpad, here are some tips that will work with all Apple related products and electronics in general:
First, some things that you should NOT do:
- Do not use glass cleaners or any product that contains ammonia, chlorine or abrasive ingredients.
- Never spray anything directly on equipment.
What you SHOULD do:
- Make sure everything is turned off (for safety reasons).
- Use a microfiber cleaning cloth because it’s lint free and gentle on the equipment.
How to Clean Electronics:
- Dampen a microfiber cleaning cloth with water (Apple also says that Isopropyl alcohol 70% or iKlear are good options). I prefer just plain old water. NOTE: Make sure the water is wrung out and not dripping from the cloth because it can damage the equipment.
- After you have been able to remove all stains and fingerprints, use a dry microfiber cleaning cloth to dry it off.
Disinfecting Electronics:
- Use a disinfecting wipe to wipe the Magic Trackpad (squeeze the excess cleaner off the wipe first).
- Then, clean it with a damp microfiber cleaning cloth.
- Finally, dry the surface with a dry microfiber cleaning cloth.
Note: Apple recommends Lysol Wipes or Clorox Kitchen Disinfecting Wipes. However, they also recommend that the wipes be squeezed before you use it on the Magic Trackpad so that any excess dampness is removed.
Have fun with your new Trackpad!
